Anjuna beach is a beach in North Goa and is situated some 18 kms from Panaji and 8 kms from Mapusa city. The beach coastline is 30 kms stretch along the west coast of Goa by the Arabian sea. The best time to visit Anjuna is early November to March. There is rush of crowds from all over India during Christmas and New year who come for big beach parties.
Anjuna beach is well known for its swaying palm trees, soft sands and its natural beauty. There is also an unusual rocky formation overlying a cove of white sand and black rock and juts into the sea. It was first discovered by the hippies in the sixties and is known as the ‘Jewel of Anjuna’ and called Ozran.
The most basic attraction is the Flea market at Anjuna and is a much crowded place mostly by tourist buying jewellery, hand made crafts with beautiful designs, attractive clothes loved by foreigners etc. Another nice thing to see at Anjuna is the ‘Albuquerque Mansion’ which is located nearby.
There are a lot of places at Anjuna where you can eat and drink. Most of them are simple semi open aired palm leaved huts which serve fish and western food. There are also small carts selling fruits and juices on the beach.
