Baga Beach
.

Baga beach is 10 kms from the nearest Mapusa city and is a North Goan beach. It is an extension of Calangute beach. The beach is surrounded by rocky and wooded land. A retreat house pearched on top of a hill brings out the perfect view of the baga beach. Baga beach can be visited any time of the year but swimming is prohibited in the monsoons because of strong under water currents. International tourists come to baga beach for sunbathing, and they love water sports and fishing. The summer here is very hot. Locals picnikers are also seen enjoying on the beach.

The people of this village are very simple, friendly and fun loving and mostly in to fishing. Trawlers and small fishing boats are set out in the sea at dawn by the local fisherman and come with a good catch of fish after a hard day work. The women here sell the fish in local markets of Calangute and Mapusa and return home with heavy purses. The demand for Baga and Calangute fish is the most in the market.

The restaurants and shacks on the beach serve dishes from goan cuisine and you can also have caddle lit dinners on the beach. The evening is just perfect with merriment and meals of your choice. You can also plan a stay as there is no problem for accommodation on the beach.
