Benaulim Beach

Benaulim beach lies in the southernmost part of Goa. It is only 2 kms ahead of Colva beach and 41 kms from Panaji, the Capital of Goa. It has a very peaceful and serene atmosphere. Though a lot of fishing activities take place here on the beach, it is very sad to know that domestic tourists have still not discovered this place. This beach gets very crowded in the evening as it takes only about a kilometer from the bus stop to reach to the beach shore and locals on their way just get off and take a walk. It also gets crowded on weekends. It is best to visit this place from December to February.

The people here are very religious and fun loving. The most holy place of the Catholics is the Church of Our Lady of Mercies. This church is very famous for its annual religious event. The feast is celebrated on the third Monday of October every year with great pomp and joy from Morning to late evenings. It is one of Goa’s most popular feast and a big fair is put up where children and adults love to spend their time.

Another most interesting event in Benaulim is the Bull fight which starts in early October to late May, from 4 pm onwards. These bull fights are usually held in an old rice field with no fences around it, just outside the village on the beat of taped Konkani music. Huge crowds gather to take a look at the bull fights and children just enjoy all this.

If you plan to stay at this beach there are a few hotels or else you can also rent houses if you stay for a longer time.
