Miramar beach is the nearest beach to Panaji, the capital of Goa in the North Goa district. It is 3 kms from the main bus stand at Panaji and a km from the DonaPaula beach. The best time to visit Miramar beach is from October to May.
Miramar beach is a lovely golden beach of soft sand griddled with Palm trees facing the blue Arabian sea. The word ‘Miramar’ is a Portuguese word and it means viewing the sea. This beach is very ideal for evening walks because of its good location. Tourists are seen spending most of their time in the palm shaded area which they find very captivating.
The main attraction of Miramar beach is the migratory birds, like the plovers and gulls who return to Miramar beach each winter as they find plenty of food here in the form of aquatic invertebrates, seeds and insects.
From the Miramar beach one can have a panoramic view of the well preserved Portuguese fort known as the Aguada fort just across the Mandovi River.
